Technology Cleanup
It is a new year and a fresh start. That means it’s time to clean up your office and your technology! One of the greatest challenges agents face in becoming more efficient is their technology. Here are three easy tips to save you time and save you money.
CLEAN UP YOUR EMAIL INBOX:
Many agents never delete emails from their inbox. They use their inbox as their main filing system, and it contains hundreds of thousands of old emails. This is incredibly inefficient, and it will cause you to lose track of important information. The ONLY emails that should be in your inbox are ones you haven’t dealt with yet. Once you read an email and deal with it, either delete it or file it in a subfolder where you can easily find it later. I suggest this week you go through your subfolders and get rid of anything you no longer need. I went through this exercise personally this week and I have to tell you, it felt great to clean everything up. I’m down to about 20 emails in my inbox that still need to be dealt with and I have a renewed sense of control.
SYNCHRONIZE YOUR DEVICES:
To run an efficient office, all your devices must be in synch. Your files and your emails should automatically synchronize between your desktop, laptop, tablet and phone. When you make a change on one device, every other device should automatically update. If you don’t know how to do this, book an appointment with the technology expert in your office or contact a service like the GeekSquad to get it done ASAP. This is an easy thing to do and it will make a world of difference in keeping your organized.
REVIEW YOUR PHONE & INTERNET PLANS:
Technology is always advancing. The phone and internet plans you’ve had for a while may no longer be the best service or the cheapest rates available in the market. At least once a year, contact your phone and internet provider to see which new plans and discounts are available to you. You’d be surprised how much money you can save and how much better your services plans could be if you take 30 minutes to update your plans. I just went through this exercise and I am now on a much better plan at a much better rate. All it took was a phone call. Trust me…your internet provider won’t call you when they have a better deal to offer, you need to call them!
